Therapy Policies

Expectations

CBT is a structured, short-term therapy that is typically delivered on a weekly basis. Consistent attendance is a key part of its effectiveness. To gain the most benefit from therapy, it’s important to attend regular weekly sessions. Frequent cancellations or inconsistent attendance can disrupt progress, and in such cases, it may be necessary to end treatment if regular attendance is not possible.

Cancellation Policy

This service is often busy. In order to offer fair access and maintain consistency for all clients, I kindly ask for at least 48 hours’ notice (excluding weekends) for cancellations or rescheduling. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice will be charged at the full session rate.

Thank you for your understanding and for supporting the therapeutic process through consistent attendance.

FAQs

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

The number of sessions varies depending on individual needs and goals. While some people benefit from short-term treatment (typically 6–12 sessions), others may require more time to address complex or long-standing issues. An approximation will be given following assessment and an individualised treatment plan.

Who Do You Work With?

I primarily work with adults. In special circumstances, I also see individuals aged 16 and over, depending on their needs and whether therapy is appropriate.

What Problems Do You Treat?

I support clients dealing with a range of concerns including anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and self-esteem. If you're unsure whether therapy is right for you, I'm happy to discuss this in a consultation.

What Types of Therapy Do You Offer?

I use evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and may integrate other methods based on your individual needs and preferences.

How Long Is a Session?

Sessions are typically 50 minutes long unless we agree otherwise.

Is Therapy Confidential?

Yes, therapy is confidential. There are a few legal and ethical exceptions, such as risk of harm to yourself or others, which I’ll explain in our first session.

Do You Offer In-Person & Online Sessions?

Currently I offer secure online sessions to provide flexibility worldwide. Research shows that for for CBT, remote sessions can be just as effective as in-person.

What Should I Expect In The First Session?

The first session is a chance to talk about what brings you to therapy, explore your goals, and see if this therapy type is a good fit for you. I’ll also ask about relevant background, explain how confidentiality works and provide you with a rough estimate of likely session numbers.

How Do I Schedule A Session?

You can contact me directly via phone or email to book a session. I’ll get back to you as soon as possible to arrange a convenient time.
